WASHINGTON - President Bush accepted responsibility on Wednesday for the decision to go to war with Iraq despite faulty intelligence but said the decision to oust Saddam Hussein was still correct.

"It is true that much(NOT ALL) of the intelligence turned out to be wrong. As president I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq," the president told The Woodrow Wilson Center on the eve of elections to establish Iraq's first permanent, democratically elected government. "And I'm also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities. And we're doing just that."

Now, just as it was with the "30,000" count Bush spoke of two days ago, the mainstream media will distort this newest comment to the best of their ability. Let's watch.

This is the update on the blog I wrote about liberal bias in college. Should be two posts down from this one.

This is the exchange that started it all:

Q: Since the inception of the Iraqi war, I'd like to know the approximate total of Iraqis who have been killed. And by Iraqis I include civilians, military, police, insurgents, translators.

THE PRESIDENT: How many Iraqi citizens have died in this war? I would say 30,000, more or less, have died as a result of the initial incursion and the ongoing violence against Iraqis. We've lost about 2,140 of our own troops in Iraq.

Every media outlet, including my professor, is concluding Bush said "30,000 civilians dead in war." Much different impression then the exchang shown above.

Come on, now. Let's stop SKEWING everything for political gain.

But after clearing the lecture hall of his political trickery, I was told I had a "valid point." Then why not state it in the first place, professor?

Throughout High School, I was more politically aware than the average teenager. After September 11th hit close to home, I awoke to what was going on around me. I had always grown up in a conservative household, and prior to September 11th I didn't really give a rats ass about politics, as most 14 year olds don't. However that all changed after September 11th. I began to look at everything. I looked at what my parents said, I looked at what the other side said, and eventually I came to my own conclusion: conservatism (ooh!! The bad C word). I considered the liberal perspective heavily, andddddd.......was unimpressed.

Around junior year of H.S., the college debate came into play. I was looking at a myriad of places, and getting together my thoughts on them. Senior year came along and I was getting my mediocre grades together to form my transcript.

I had always heard of the liberal bias in colleges, but I never really appreciated it until I experienced it myself. Fast forward til today:

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005; Stony Brook University, Long Island, NY.

I'm in my last class of the semester; Sexuality in Literature. The class size, to my knowledge, exceeds 300, and it is held in a very large lecture hall.
Throughought the course of the semester, I knew my professor was a liberal. I had heard of his views before, but never in the class. Throughout the semester, this professor had never once expressed, or pushed his political views upon us, and I deeply appreciated and respected that.

However that all changed on this day.

Okay, so I'm in my last lecture with this man, and everything is going quite swimmingly until he decided to begin dissecting every euphamism used by the Bush administration, such as "enemy combatant, shock and awe, precision strike," so on and so forth. He complained about how these Islamo Fascists are treated while in detention, going on to talk about how they are held in "unpleasant positions." Ooh, God (oops did I say that) forbid. I wouldnt suppose the people who were forced to jump of the Trade Towers were in an "unpleasant position," were they?

So, of course, he got to the recent news of Bush stating 30,000 Iraqis have died in Iraq. Notably, he mentioned, and likened the figure to be that of a count of civilian deaths. Angered by this, I raised my hand to rebuke. However, I was told to wait until he was finished with the rest of his points, and that I should "write down" my question. Why? So I can hand it in to you on the last day of lecture?

Immediately after he was finished, I stood up in front of the class and informed the 300 plus people that the figure was being skewed by the media, and why. Ill get into that later..

After my remarks, the professor went on to say I had a "valid point."

Oh why thank you for making that generous admission, professor, it's a shame a boy 30 years your junior had to make up for your lack of maturity.

I've finally experienced the liberal bias I was always told collge would entail.
